A Bridge is a Very Effective Dental Restoration Option

Posted .

Losing a tooth can have serious ramifications to your oral health and function. Fortunately, Dr. Vivian Hudson has a few different options available to replace the tooth.

If you want something more permanent than a removable partial denture, yet you are put off by the oral surgery required to install a dental implant, Dr. Vivian Hudson might recommend a dental bridge restoration.

This is a pair of crowns that are fused to an artificial tooth in the middle. The bridge will eventually be anchored in your mouth on abutments that are formed from the core of the two closest teeth.

Your dentist will create the abutments by using a drill to remove the tooth enamel from the two closest teeth. A detailed impression will then be made of the abutments and any corresponding teeth. This will be sent to our dental lab where your new bridge will be made.

Then temporary crowns will be cemented over each abutment to protect them while our off-site dental lab technician works to produce the new bridge.

You will need to come back for a follow-up appointment when your bridge is ready. The temporary crowns will be removed and your new bridge will be cemented in place over the two abutments.
